5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. - James 1:5 (KJV)
The previous verses have been dealing with times we face in trials and tribulations, so I assume that this verse is telling us that if we lack the wisdom to get us through the trials, then we should ask God, and He will give us the necessary wisdom. If you are a born again Christian, you should always call on the Lord during your tribulations, and He is faithful to give us help when we need it, and ask for it (Matthew 7:7). Many times we receive not, because we ask not, or ask for just our own desires (James 4:3). Many times we are not smart enough to even ask for wisdom, but we should.
When we are in a mess (trial), it is normally because we have gotten ourselves into it, and that makes us hesitant to ask God for His help. God does not rebuke His children for asking for help, but will give it to us gladly, and it will be given in abundance. Our Father is so very good to us, and none of our trials come from Him (James 1:13), even though many churches teach that God puts sickness, diseases, trials and tribulations upon us to teach us something. That just is not true, as only the good gifts come down from the Father (James 1:17). You should remember that if you blame God for the works of the devil it is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost (Matthew 12:31-32), and can send a born again believer to hell (see “New Revelations” page on our web site). Thank you Lord for making your wisdom available to your children who ask for help.
