3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, - Eph 4:3-5 (KJV)

Paul is teaching that we Christians, the body of Christ, need to keep unified in Spirit and in peace at all times. The church today with all the different denominations and different doctrines, are far from being unified, and this should not be. In the early days of the church, they stayed in unity, and although they met in many different places, in homes, in each city, they stayed unified in the same doctrines and beliefs. Why can’t we do the same now?

We, who are born again, are all baptized into the body of Christ, and all are of one body, and one Spirit. Each of us have the very Spirit of Jesus living in us (Galatians 2:20), and we are brothers and sisters in the Lord, and we are supposed to be at complete peace with each other (John 13:34). We all have the same promises, and hope, that God has given to all those that love Him, and we all have the same fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and we need to all draw on the fruit, and love, respect, and serve one another.

Since we, who are born again, have one Lord, faith, and baptism, then we should act as if we all truly are of one body, with perfect harmony of action and love. What if your physical bodies acted like the body of Christ does now, and one member rebelled against another all the time and each member didn’t cooperate with the others? That would not be good, and neither is the division in the church today good. Let us all love Jesus and the Father together, and realize that it is all about them, and not about us. Thank you Lord for your faithfulness.
