8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. - Heb 6:8 (KJV)

Paul has been teaching in the previous verses, about believers who fall away from faith in the Lord, and if they are mature Christians and fall away from their faith in Jesus, they can never be saved again (Hebrews 6:6), and become a reprobate. This is comparing the earth (ground), to how it is with our hearts, as if we don’t prepare and maintain the ground, then thorns and briers will grow up, and if we don’t maintain the condition of our hearts, then we can fall away from being saved. You can not lose your salvation accidentally, but you can still end up in hell several different ways. Even a born again believer can take their faith from being in Jesus, and put it all back on themselves, by doing the works of the law to gain self-righteousness. Or they can renounce their salvation and reject Jesus as their Savior. Or if they blasphemy the Holy Ghost (Matthew 12:31-32), or disobey Jesus (Hebrews 5:9), they can end up in hell. For a current example of blasphemy against the Holy Ghost see our web page “New Revelations” on our web site.

Jesus used the earth to represent the condition of our hearts when He taught on the parable of the sower and the different types of ground (Matthew 13:3-8). In this parable you will notice that only the ground that was free from evil (bad) things was able to produce many crops. It is the same with our hearts, as if we are full of unbelief (Matthew 13:58) from this world, and have not prepared our hearts properly, then we will not bear much fruit. Study God’s Word, and keep your faith strong in the Lord, and obey Him, so you won’t be burned. Praise God for all His instructions.

Amen. I need to take a bunch of the time I utterly waste on the internet and start giving it to God. I've definitely let briars start growing.

We all tend to suffer from distractions. Thanks for reading God's Word. Love, Pastor Joe.
