22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. - Matt 7:22-23 (KJV)
There have been many people who have said the prayer required to obtain salvation (Romans 10:9-10), and truly believed in their hearts that Jesus was who He said He was, but have not made Him their Lord. Many will think they are saved, and the church has been bad to teach that those that get born again are saved for sure, and that is not what the bible teaches. Even if you are born again, you have to know Jesus and obey Him (Hebrews 5:9) (and not blasphemy the Holy Ghost), and He has to know you, and the word know means to have a close personal, intimate, relationship, not just know about Him. Doing things for the church, and for Jesus, is not enough as doing things only, can’t save you.
The whole reason Jesus came to earth to redeem mankind, and defeat the devil, was to bring us everlasting life (John 3:16). Everlasting life is not just living forever, as all will do that, but it is to know (intimately) both Jesus and the Father (John 17:3). Jesus didn’t just come to redeem us for our sakes, but the Father sent Jesus to die for us, so that the Father could again have fellowship with us. It is all about God, not about us, as we were made for His pleasure (Revelations 4:11). If you have just been born again, and never gave yourself to Jesus (Romans 12:1), and obeyed Him, and don’t have intimate fellowship with the Father, then you could be one of those that Jesus says, “I never knew you”. You must get to know Jesus, and obey Him, so that won’t happen, and to do that you must read the bible and become disciples indeed (John 8:31), and stay in prayer with the Father continually. Knowing God is not hard and is full of rewards – Praise Him always.
