5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. - John 1:5 (KJV)

Jesus was called the Light of this world, and He called His saints the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). All through the bible God and Jesus, as well as the saints, are referred to as light, while Satan, sin, and all evil is referred to as darkness. We are told to let our light shine (Matthew 5:16) in this world, and the way we do that, is to let Jesus live through us. If you are born again, Jesus lives in you (Galatians 4:6), and you must die to yourself (quit being self-centered), and let Him live through you, as it is all about Him and the Father, not us.

It is such a shame that Jesus (God in the flesh) (1 Timothy 3:16), came to this earth, and was not only rejected by most of His people, but also crucified by them. Our Creator killed by His own creation – Wow. It is somewhat understandable that Jesus was overlooked as being God, as He appeared completely human, and it would have been difficult to look at a human, and think “this is God”. But the religious Jews had been watching for the Messiah to come for many years, and He fulfilled many of the prophecies of the Old Testament prophets, and yet they completely missed who He was. They did not have the advantage of having the Holy Spirit in them, and this world cannot receive the Holy Spirit (John 14:17) like a born again person can. Some of them did believe, but the traditions of the synagogues at that time, were so strong an influence upon the Jews, that they could not bring themselves to follow Jesus, as they preferred the traditions of man to Him. Praise God for His Word, and the Holy Ghost, that we might know the truth.
