Daily Devotional

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. - John 15:16 (KJV)

Many people say they have found the Lord when they get saved, but the truth is that you can only come to the Lord if He draws you (John 6:44). Also you don’t find the Lord, as He wasn’t lost, but you were before you are born again, so the Lord actually finds you, and the Holy Spirit leads you to salvation. What an honor it is, to be chosen by God to be one of His children, but you have a free will (Deuteronomy 30:19), and you must come to Him when He draws you. Once you accept the Lord as your Lord and Savior, then He ordains you (gives you power) to go spread the Gospel, and bear fruit for His kingdom.

Notice that it says that the fruit you bring forth, should remain, and not fall away. This means that us Christians are supposed to do more than just get people born again, but we need to be sure that they are made disciples, so that they will remain good fruit. Jesus said that if you stay in His Word, you will be disciples indeed (John 8:31), and that is what it takes to remain in faith, and work out your salvation (Philippians 2:12). If you do become a disciple indeed, and stay in faith to work out your salvation, then Jesus promises that the Father will answer your prayers and give you the things you need to fulfill the call that God has placed on your life. Praise God for all His wonderful promises to His children.
