12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:12-13 (KJV)
It is so awesome that Jesus took the entire Law given through Moses, and made it simple, just to love with God’s kind of AGAPE love. Jesus didn’t give us a bunch of rules and regulations to adhere to, but His commandments were all about loving God, and loving others (Matthew 22:37-40), and He made it clear that this would fulfill the entire law (Matthew 5:17). If all Christians would truly love each other as Jesus loves us, what a powerful example we could make to the world, and they would all see the benefit of being saved, as everyone desires love. The Christians need to work at not having any strife in the body of Christ, as it is an inroad for the devil to come in and destroy it (John 10:10). The early church gatherings were called love feasts, because they showed such love for each other. Why don’t we?
The greatest expression of love is to give your life for another, and that is just what Jesus did for us. Jesus taught throughout His life that He was meek and humble (Matthew 11:29), and if we die to ourselves and let Jesus live through us, then we will act the same. What love it was for God to come to earth, in the form of a man (John 1:14), and not only teach us, but showed through His life, what it is to be humble and loving to all us sinners. Then to top it all off, He defeated the works of the devil, and died for us, that through His death, we might obtain His righteousness (John 3:16), so we could have eternal life (fellowship) with the father (John 17:3). Thank you Lord for your great sacrifice for us, and for loving us so very much – Praise God!
