50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; - Matt 27:50-51 (KJV)
Oh what an expression of love, that Jesus would die on the cross for us – Praise God. The Apostle John, in his account of Jesus death, wrote that this last cry of Jesus was “it is finished” (John 19:30), and truly the ministry of Jesus was finished, and all that He came to do on earth was accomplished. Jesus was born under the law, and He fulfilled the law completely (Acts 3:18), as no other man ever could. Jesus was sinless at birth, and lived a sinless life under the law (1 Peter 2:22), and by doing so, He earned righteousness, and then gave it to us, who believe in Him. Wow – what a trade, our sins for His righteousness, as well as eternal life (fellowship with the Father and Jesus) (John 17:3).
When Jesus died and the veil of the temple ripped, it signified that the way into the Holiest part of the temple, where the presence of God resided, was now made open to those that believed in Jesus. We, who are born again, can now enter into the very presence of God, as we are now made priests of the highest order (Revelation 1:6). What a privilege to be able to come before God Almighty without fear, and to be able to relate to Him as our Abba Father (daddy) (Romans 8:15). It is hard to realize that we have such privileges as this, and most Christians do not feel like they can approach God in this manner, but we can, and should. What love our Heavenly Father has for us, to send His Son to be our sacrifice, so we could become the Sons of God (John 1:12). Thank you Jesus.
