26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. - John 14:26-27 (KJV)
Jesus gave these sayings just before His crucifixion and He was trying to comfort His disciples. The Holy Ghost is described as the Comforter, and that is one of His greatest functions. He also will teach us all things, and He will bring the Word of God back to our remembrance. We don’t have to rely on man to teach us the things of God (Jeremiah 31:33-34), as if we, who are born again and have the Holy Ghost, will study the bible, the Holy Ghost will quicken our understanding of the Word. The Holy Ghost wrote the bible through the prophets, so He knows what it means better than anyone else. If you were baptized as Jesus commanded (Matthew 28:19), in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, then you received the Holy Ghost at that time, but if not, you must ask God for the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and He will give it to you.
The peace that Jesus gives to us, who accept Him, is not like the peace of this world. The world definition of peace is a lack of conflict or problems, but Jesus kind of peace is a peace in our soul even during times of conflict and problems. We receive God’s kind of peace when we are born again, as it is in the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) that we receive upon being born again. The way that we activate this peace is by keeping our minds upon the Lord, and He will keep us in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Thank you Lord for giving us the Comforter and all our gifts of the Spirit.
