11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. - Matt 23:11-12 (KJV)

The ways of the Kingdom of God are certainly different than the ways of man, and the way up, is down in the Kingdom. Those who humble themselves, God will exalt (Proverbs 15:33 & 18:12). On the other hand, God resists the proud (1 Peter 5:6), so a Christian should be humble in all his actions so that the Lord will exalt him in due time. This current world does just the opposite, as they worship the proud and arrogant people, and make heroes of those that exalt themselves. This shows that the prince of this world (the devil) is hard at work, and way to many people are falling into his ways. Give yourself to God and resist the devil so he will flee from you (James 4:7), and do not fall for his lies, as he comes only to steal, kill and destroy you (John 10:10).

God is well able to humble or abase the proud, as He did to King Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 4:37), as He made him like an animal for 7 years because the King was proud and haughty. The Scriptures teach that we should put others before ourselves, and says the second great commandment was to treat others as ourselves (Matthew 22:39). We can only do this if we die to ourselves, and let God live through us, as God is love (1 John 4:8), and only with His kind of love can we put others ahead of ourselves. We have that love in us, if you are born again, as it is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and all Christians should be able to show that kind of love if we walk after the Spirit instead of the flesh. Praise God for giving us His love to share with others.
