The dead sleep.
5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. Enjoy Your Portion in This Life
7 Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
8 Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.
9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.
10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Ecclesiastes 9 KJV
KJV is a heretical Bible that has changed the word of God as with many so called Catholic bibles.
Comparison of 9 Different Bibles on the Name of Christ in the Old Testament http://www.realdouayrheims.com/versionschart.htm
The titles Christ, Anointed, and Messiah are synonyms.
The name CHRIST is found 21 times in the Old Testament. Luther rendered it Judaistically "Messiah" once, "Christ" twice, and he rendered it out 18 times. He then blotted out the name CHRIST 24 times in the New Testament.
Then, forty- five (45) times, Martin Luther took the name JESUS out of the New Testament!
It is extremely important, of course, to comply with the words of Jesus that we change not a single word of His; however, the name JESUS can be much more important in one verse than in another!
JESUS is taken out by Luther in his "Bible," in: Mt. 5:1; 8:26; 9:23; 16:15; 17:19; 20:17; 22:20; 26:18; Mk. 9:15; 16:1; 16:19; Lk. 4:38; 6:11; 14:1; 18:31; 20:3; 22:2; 24:36; Jn. 2:8; 4:1; Acts 5:41; 9:17; 9:20; 10:48; 16:7; 18:4; 18:25; 24:24; Rom. 8:34; 15:16; 16:9; I Cor. 4:17; II Cor. 2:14; Eph. 3:6; Phil. 3:9; Col. 1:7; 2:2; 4:12; II Thes. 2:8; Phile. 8; Heb. 4:14- 16; 9:24; Jude 5,24,25; Hab. 3:18.

The KJV bible was modelled off the Douay Rheims bible.
[32] I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. [Matthew 22:32]
From The Douay Catechism: Q. How prove you that the saints have any power to do us good? A. Out of Apoc. ii. 26, 27, where Christ hath promised them power over us: to him, said he, that shall overcome, and keep my works to the end, to him will I give power over nations, and he shall rule them with an iron rod. Q. How prove you that it is lawful to pray to angels? A. Out of Apoc. i. 4, where St. John did it: Grace (saith he) to you, and peace from him that is, that was, and that shall come, and from the seven spirits that are in the sight of his throne. Q. What other proof have you? A. Out of Apoc. viii. 4, where we read, that they present the church's prayers to God. The smoke of the incense of the prayers of the saints ascend from the hand of the angel before God. Q. How prove you that we may pray to saints? A. Out of Gen. xlvii, 16, where Jacob taught his children to do it, saying, And let my name be invocated upon them, the names also of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac. Q. How prove you that they pray for us? A. Out of Apoc. v. 8. The twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one harps, and vials full of odours, which are the prayers of the saints. Q. Is it no dishonour to God, for us to pray to saints to pray for us? A. No, it is not, nor yet to beg it of men; for St. Paul did it: We hope (saith he) that God will deliver us, you also helping in prayer for us. 2 Cor. i. 11.
17 The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence. Psalm 115 KJV
[25] The dead shall not praise thee, O Lord: nor any of them that go down to hell. [26] But we that live bless the Lord: from this time now and for ever. http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=21&ch=113&l=25#x
The dead are those living in a state of mortal sin and those already in hell. The living are those living in a state of grace and those in heaven.
