Daily Devotional

June 18

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. - John 14:2-3 (KJV)

Jesus had just told the disciples to not let their hearts be troubled (John 14:1), and then added this information about heaven. One way that we can overcome worries and fear, is to look forward to our existence in heaven, as that will overcome any problem we now have. What a comfort to think that we will have a home in heaven with Jesus and the Father, when we, who are born again, do die, or Jesus comes again. Jesus said this so His disciples would not be offended (John 16:1) at His upcoming crucifixion. What a comfort it is to know our future, and we should comfort one another with this truth (1 Thessalonians 4:17-18).

What a wonderful fact that Jesus will come again for us, who believe in Him. Just knowing this makes life here on earth bearable, as the glory we will see when we get to heaven is so much more than this life (Romans 8:18). The secret of staying happy in this life, is keeping our minds on our future with Jesus (Colossians 3:1-2), and not let our minds worry about carnal things. Knowing that we will be with Jesus forever, is what makes serving Him so wonderful, and is what keeps the Christian focussed on Him. If we can get our minds off of ourselves and this world, and keep it on God, and let the Spirit of Jesus live through us, we can be completely at peace, and full of joy, as we have everything we need in the fruit of the spirit within us (Galatians 5:22-23). Praise God for all the wonderful promises given to us, His children.

Why does God Allow Evil People To Exist And Attack His Followers ?

God gave control of the earth to man in Genesis, and it is man that allows it, as God no longer controls what we do. Thanks for the comment, Love, Pastor Joe.
