3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. - Psalms 141:3 (KJV)

We need all the help we can get to try and control our mouth. No one can tame their tongues (James 3:8), and we tend to speak words that can kill us, as the words we speak are either life or death (Proverbs 18:21), and we end up having to eat our own words. Most people do not think that the words they say are important, but God created the whole universe, and everything in it, by speaking words (Genesis 1), and then made man in His image (Genesis 1:26). Our words are powerful, and they affect the spirit world, as well as all of creation on earth. Also Jesus told us that we would be held accountable for all the idle words that we speak (Matthew 12:36-37). Wow! – That makes what we say even more important, as we will have to be judged by what we say. Thank God for Jesus, as what we say wrong, is sin, and it has been forgiven by the sacrifice of Jesus, and unless it is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, or disobedience to Jesus (Hebrews 5:9), it should not be held against us. Does this mean that we can say whatever we want to if we are born again? No, as it still is sin, and it will give the devil inroad into our lives, and if we open the door to the devil, he will put sickness, poverty, strife, etc. into our lives, as he comes only to steal, kill, and destroy us (John 10:10). If we speak negative words, we can stop the healing power of God, given to us by the stripes that Jesus bore (1 Peter 2:24). You must watch your words that you speak, if you want to live the victorious life that Jesus purchased for us – Thank you Jesus.
