4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. - Romans 7:4 (KJV)

This has been comparing our marriage to our old man (sin nature), to our born again marriage to Jesus. We not only died to the old sin nature, but we died to the law, when we got born again. The church has been bad to still preach the law of doing things, or works, instead of the new faith in the grace of God (Romans 6:14). The bible compares our born again experience as being married to Christ and the saints (church) are spoken of as being the bride of Christ. The point that Paul is making is that the born again believer is no longer under the law, as the law is only for the unsaved (1 Timothy 1:9-10).

Now that the believer is dead to the law, we should live for Christ in a new spiritual way (Romans 7:6). When we are born again, our “want to” has been changed, and we should now want to live holy for our Lord. If you still want to live in sin, then you probably were not truly born again. Just because we are no longer under the law, does not free us from serving our Lord, as faith without works is dead (James 2:26). The difference in a Christian’s service to the Lord, is that we do things for Him because of our love for Him, and not from obligation due to the law. Jesus was all about love, and since God is love (1 John 4:8), then all our service should be because of our love for Jesus and the Father, not because the law says we have to do those things. We also must obey the commands of Jesus to assure our eternal salvation (Hebrews 5:9). Praise God for Jesus.
