6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. - Heb 11:6 (KJV)
This verse lets us know for sure that we must have faith to be able to please God. Our faith in Jesus, and what He did for us, is what pleases God, and we must stay strong in this faith, and obey Jesus, to assure us of our eternal salvation (Hebrews 5:9). It takes faith to believe that there is a God, as we can not see Him with our eyes. This faith comes by reading, or hearing, the Word of God (Romans 10:17), as it is the faith of God that comes through His Word.
Notice that we must believe that God “is”, not that He was or is gonna be. We must know that God is real and alive to us now, for our faith to be working. We also must know (be assured of) that God will reward us when we diligently seek Him. This is why the bible tells us we must believe, when we pray, that we receive our answer for our prayers to work (Mark 11:24). That is what faith is, believing in something you haven’t seen, or that hasn’t happened yet. Faith is the substance of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1), and you must have faith that you will receive what you hope and pray for. God is a God of faith, and He gives us His faith when we are born again, as it is a fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and we receive it when we get born again. You must have God’s kind of faith to believe in Him and in the entire spiritual world out there that you can’t see. Praise God for giving us His faith to use.
