Does your bible have footnotes? That verse is not found in extant manuscripts.
I'm well aware of the majority text vs received text debate and the early omission of 1 John 5:7 from the Catholic Bible over the heresy of Sabellianism. The Waldenses preserved the verse for centuries while the Catholics tries to purge them.
And this is not the only verse that demonstrates the trinity of God. This passage is the most blunt but there are many other place that equate at least two of the persons of God and they overlap.
The first verses in the Gospel of John are dedicated to demonstrating that Jesus the Son and God the Father are the same being.
It is the most blunt and if it were true then I would think it would be in all the versions. It is a basic tenet of the religion of Christianity. Imagine if the scriptural evidence for the crucifixion and resurrection were as "clear" as the teacjing on "trinity".
Those who hate God have been trying to cast doubt on the person and character of Jesus forever. That's the whole reason there is a rift and contention over translations. You should read "If the Foundations Be Destroyed" by Riplinger.
