1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee. 2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. - Psalms 138:1-2 (KJV)
Praising God with all the heart, is in keeping with the greatest of all commandments given by Jesus (Matthew 22:37), as we show our love to God by praising Him. God inhabits the praise of His people (Psalms 50:23), and when we praise Him, we are glorifying Him. We should praise our heavenly Father before all other things we have in our life, like our possessions, money, etc. The singing of praises is a wonderful way to honor our Father.
We should worship God for all His wonderful blessings (Ephesians 1:3), and for all His Words in the bible, which are truth (John 17:17) and life to us who believe. It is amazing that God has magnified His Word even above His name, as the name of Jesus is so very powerful that it will cause every knee to bow and every tongue to confess that He is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11). This verse shows us that the Word of God is the most powerful thing in this universe, and is what holds everything together (Colossians 1:17), and we need to be reading it, and putting it into our hearts on a daily basis. We, who are born again, need to give ourselves wholly to the Lord, and renew our minds with His Word (Romans 12:1-2). This is our reasonable service to the Lord, as He paid a tremendous price to buy us out of slavery to the devil. Praise God for His Word, and all the wonderful promises made to us, His Children.
