April 27

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. - John 10:10 (KJV)

The thief of this verse, of course, is Satan (the devil), and this tells us just what the devil is going to do if we give him a chance. Everything evil comes from the devil, and all good things come down from above (James 1:17) from God. If you, who are born again, do sin, you give Satan an opportunity to come in and destroy you, as when you sin you become the servant of the devil (Romans 6:16). It is not you that the devil hates, it is God in you that he is out to destroy, and he will put sickness, disease, and all sorts of evil upon you when you open the door and invite him in. This is why it is so important to try and live a holy life for the Lord, as you don’t want to give opportunity to the devil.

Jesus came to give us life, and that means God’s kind of life, or the life of God. The word translated life is “ZOE” and it means the kind of life that God has, or an abundant life. All born again believers have this kind of life in them (John 5:24), as it is the Spirit of Jesus that we are born into (Galatians 4:6), and become one with Him. Jesus came to give us this life, and He gives it to us in this world, now, and not when we get to heaven. If you are a born again Christian, and have the Holy Ghost living within you, then you should be living a victorious life right now, as you have the abundant life living within you, as well as the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Praise God for giving us so much, when we didn’t deserve it.
