16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. - James 5:16 (KJV)

We should humble ourselves and confess our faults one to another, not to be forgiven by God, but to reconcile with others. All Christians should pray for one another, and you need to study God’s Word to find out how to pray effectively for others. God has given the born again believer, power to remit the sins (not forgive them) of others, and to retain their sins unto them (John 20:23). God works through His people (Ephesians 3:20) so we must cooperate with Him, and through our prayers allow Him to work through us. We should learn to pray effectively for the healing, prosperity, salvation, etc. and should use our prayers to bless others. If your prayers are for your own lusts, they won’t be answered (James 4:3).

It is so very true that the fervent prayers of a righteous (born again) man is so very powerful. Knowing how to pray for others is what is important, and you must determine what the Holy Spirit can accomplish in the person you are praying for, before your prayers will be effective. You should be specific in your prayers, and not just pray in a general manner, as your prayer must be aimed at the problem before it will be effective. If you don’t pray for others properly, you can do more damage than good. Many have caused harm in praying for others, and you must know that your prayers are being answered when you pray (Mark 11:24). God is so very good to His children, and He does answer us, when we ask properly. Thank you Lord.
