Daily Devotional

April 23

8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. - Romans 6:8-9 (KJV)

Those of us, who are born again, have died with Christ, and our old sin nature is now dead, and the Spirit of Jesus has come into us, and we now have the very righteousness of Him living in us (Galatians 4:6). This is what water baptism represents, the fact that we died with Christ (when submerged), and are now raised up into newness of life (when raised). It not only represents the born again experience, but also the fact that we will be resurrected when Jesus comes again, and we will be like Him (1 Corinthians 13:12).

Jesus conquered death, by being crucified and then raised up again, and now death has no dominion over Him. This tells us that when we, who are born again, are resurrected, we will live forever with Jesus (if you don’t blasphemy the Holy Ghost (Matthew 12:31-32), or disobey Jesus (Hebrews 5:9)), and never die again. What a wonderful thought, as if this life was all that we have, then we would be most miserable (1 Corinthians 15:19). But we have an eternity to look forward to, and if a Christian, it will be in the New Jerusalem, on the New Earth, and in the very presence of the Father and Jesus (Revelation 21:3). Praise God. Everyone will live forever in one of two places – either on the new earth, or in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). Choose the new earth, as it will be heaven on earth, and sounds a whole lot better than the lake of fire. If you don’t know Jesus, please get saved now (Romans 10:9-10). Thank you Lord.
