This is from a letter I wrote to a devout muslim. He and another did not believe any of the stuff I was telling them came from the REAL quran. Jokes on them, they all say the same equally ridiculous things in different ways, but follow the same story. Here is the commentary I gave him to prove I was reading the "real" quran that he gave to me and that I was analysing and not just passing over it all nonchalantly.

The commentary is a comparison of the quran, the old testament and the new. It is important to note, that the quran says that the old and new testament is true and correct. Despite it then saying the new testament was corrupted by Paul. Which makes no sense, because no one can change the words of allah.

Feel free to use this as you want. I might do all of it one day. It is a good exercise for Christian apologists. If anything seems wrong, let me know so I can fix my knowledge.

Source is The Noble Quran - Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan and Dr. M. Taqi-ud-Din Al-Hilali, 1999 version.

1.5 You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything).

Except all the times you are asked to ask to worship Muhammad. Daily invoking " peace be on YOU, O Prophet and Allah's mercy and blessings be on YOU." I will admit, this is not in the quran but in Sahih al bukhari. "Oh Allah, I ask You and turn to You through my Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of mercy; O MUHAMMAD (YA MUHAMMAD), I SEEK YOUR INTERCESSION with my Lord for the return of my eyesight" Umdat Al-Salikl. "'O Allah, I ask You and turn to You through our Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of mercy; O MUHAMMAD (YA MUHAMMAD), I TURN THROUGH YOU to my Lord, that He may fulfill my need,' to the caliph Uthman. Just a few places.

1.6 Guide us to the Straight Way

It is interesting to note that other translations say STRAIGHT PATH. The entire Quran is full of changes, over writes and twists its path to achieve righteousness. Some verses are obsolete and it is easy to dispute which ones. There is no such thing as a "straight" path or way in the Quran.

2.4 And who believe in (the Qur'an and the Sunnah) which has been sent down (revealed) to you (Muhammad Peace be upon him ) and in [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] which were sent down before you and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter. (Resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell, etc.).

Important to note that it says to worship God, but the prophet has all the answers. And ONLY the prophet. This is not the case in the books of the bible. Many people in the old and new testament were spoken to by God and many more people got first hand evidence. Not the case in the quran.

2.6 Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him ) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe.

Then it is not possible for a non believer to convert to Islam. It literally says non believers can not be converted.

2.8 And of mankind, there are some (hypocrites) who say: "We believe in Allah and the Last Day" while in fact they believe not. 9. They (think to) deceive Allah and those who believe, while they only deceive themselves, and perceive (it) not! 10. In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allah has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies.

The Quran tells its own people to do the exact same thing, but it's alright to habitually lie in order to save yourself. Yet condemns people who do it as diseased. Double standards.

2.22 Who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped).

Sahih International version: "[He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]." It is important to note the differences in that Muhammad was not equal to God, but Jesus was.

2.23 And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Qur'an) to Our slave (Muhammad Peace be upon him ), then produce a Surah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allah, if you are truthful.

It is important to note who is saying this at the time it is being transcribed. Muhammad is telling people to not doubt Muhammad. No other servants ever add to the Quran. It is very convenient. Specially as many parts of the bible, old and new have many people handing down the word of God.

2.25 And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds, that for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). Every time they will be provided with a fruit therefrom, they will say: "This is what we were provided with before," and they will be given things in resemblance (i.e. in the same form but different in taste) and they shall have therein Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives), (having no menses, stools, urine, etc.) and they will abide therein forever.

The description of heaven given in the old and new testament does not match this. Jesus himself actually gives complete contradictions to this. Saying things like; people will NOT be given to and for marriage, as this is an earthly thing and heaven is not like earth. You will find that the afterlife in the quran contains the fulfilment of many earthly desires.

2.26 Verily, Allah is not ashamed to set forth a parable even of a mosquito or so much more when it is bigger (or less when it is smaller) than it. And as for those who believe, they know that it is the Truth from their Lord, but as for those who disbelieve, they say: "What did Allah intend by this parable?" By it He misleads many, and many He guides thereby. And He misleads thereby only those who are Al-Fasiqun (the rebellious, disobedient to Allah).

The God in the old and new testament does not mislead by his examples. In fact, all direct misleading of scripture is attributed to Satan. In the Quran, Allah and Muhammad do many things that Satan did or would do in the old and new testament.

2.29 It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth. Then He directed Himself to the heaven, [His being above all creation], and made them seven heavens, and He is Knowing of all things.

Quran is the only book that mentions more than one heaven. The only known concepts of 7 heavens (out side of hearsay and mythology) is in Hinduism and Babylon cults. This is why its in the talmud. Judaism has 7 heavens in their books outside of the old testament. So why does Muhammad say it is true (on behalf of Allah of course), when the old testament never said it? You can see in a lot of hadiths and commentary that it was almost as if Muhmmad was trying to apease every religious group at the time to convince them he was the messiah. I wont go into detail on this here though, so feel free to ignore it.

2.3 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Verily, I am going to place (mankind) generations after generations on earth." They said: "Will You place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, - while we glorify You with praises and thanks (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners) and sanctify You." He (Allah) said: "I know that which you do not know."

This is not in the bible in any form.

2.31 And He taught Adam all the names (of everything) , then He showed them to the angels and said, "Tell Me the names of these if you are truthful."

He taught them the names of everything? This is not in the old testament. In verse 2.33 Allah asks Adam to tell the angels what their names are. 1, this means that the angels can not see what mankind is doing. This is the opposite of what is in the bible. 2. Adam gave the things all the names, not Allah, as per the old testament.

2.32 They (angels) said: "Glory be to You, we have no knowledge except what you have taught us. Verily, it is You, the All-Knower, the All-Wise."

Bible is clear, angels are a little bit below God and above man and have almost all the knowledge of God minus a little. This includes at the time of Adam.

2.34 And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam.". And they prostrated except Iblis (Satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah).

The bible is clear, mankind is below the angels. What Iblis (other translations: Iblees) is, is not 100% certain. Sometimes referred to as satan or an evil force within Islam, it straight out does not exist in the old testament. And if it supposed to be satan, then this completely contradicts how the bible explains Satans fall from grace. It also can't be satan, because within this same set of verses satan is referred to as shaitan.

2.35 And We said: "O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the Paradise and eat both of you freely with pleasure and delight of things therein as wherever you will, but come not near this tree or you both will be of the Zalimun (wrong-doers)

Eve was not his wife as that would imply various aspects of what a wife is and does. This did not occur until after the fall. Eve wasn't even mentioned in these passages. It doesn't even mention what sort of tree. Which was incredibly important, as described in the bible. I went through the Arabic and confirmed what the tree was is not confirmed. It is later mentioned however as the tree of immorality. Which completely contradicts the old testament, which calls it the tree of knowledge (or understanding/wisdom)

2.40+ 2:40 onwards, in regards to the Children of Israel.

It is important to note here that he is talking about the children of Israel and goes on to remind them about what he did for them. However, the Quran was supposed to come after the old and new testament. Israel is no longer the only recipient of the covenant. The covenant as it stood after the gospel is completely different compared to what is being alluded to here.

2.43 And perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat, and Irka' (i.e. bow down or submit yourselves with obedience to Allah) along with Ar-Raki'un.

Zakah doesn’t exist in the bible, even though these set of passages are referring to the people in the time of Moses. A minimal Zakah is 2.5% that is to give to needy people. In the old testament you have Sedaqah, which is 10% to the temple as a good will sacrifice. Later in the talmud (judaism only) they set a max of 20%. It is important to note that what Zakah exactly is is not confirmed in the quran itself.

2.49 And (remember) when We delivered you from Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, who were afflicting you with a horrible torment, killing your sons and sparing your women, and therein was a mighty trial from your Lord. Something didn't seem right in this verse.

I looked up alternate translations and I got "slaughtering" instead of "killing". I was not able to determine a direct translation, however it is important to note no actually "killing" per se and specially not "slaughtering" occurred during this time. The children were just thrown in the nile. Sure, one could assume that they died, but this verse says that the Egyptians were killing their sons directly. To have such a confusing distinction between this word gives very hard evidence that the person saying them had no idea what actually occurred in the old testament. This is also the case considering that the first time they TRIED to kill them but failed due to the intervening midwifes.

2.54 And (remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his people: "O my people! Verily, you have wronged yourselves by worshipping the calf. So turn in repentance to your Creator and kill yourselves (the innocent kill the wrongdoers among you), that will be better for you with your Lord." Then He accepted your repentance. Truly, He is the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.

This did not occur at all. Moses did not command any such things. In the old testament Moses commanded all the people that stood for God to come to him, then told them to kill the sinners. There was no communication about repentance. And what is most interesting, is the translation for "Kill yourselves" (Remembering that all words in brackets are implied meanings and NOT in the original Arabic). The old testament never said that they should kill themselves. This was so out of place I went and looked up alternate translations and found that it says to kill your passions. This is two completely different meaning words. I took it a step further and investigated the Arabic meaning. Refer to the list below for the different dialects and official translations of the line. REMINDER: The bracketed words are not in the direct translations, they are implied meanings. This level of non understandable understanding is found all over the quran and it is impossible to be simple. Scholars have to come in after Muhammad and add in their own interpretations to make it all make sense.

Sahih International: So repent to your Creator and kill yourselves.
Pickthall: so turn in penitence to your Creator, and kill (the guilty) yourselves.
Yusuf Ali: So turn (in repentance) to your Maker, and slay yourselves (the wrong-doers)
Shakir: so kill your people, that is best for you with your Creator
Muhammad Sarwar: Seek pardon from your Lord and slay yourselves.
Mohsin Khan: So turn in repentance to your Creator and kill yourselves (the innocent kill the wrongdoers among you)
Arberry: now turn to your Creator and slay one another.

2.55 And (remember) when you said: "O Musa (Moses)! We shall never believe in you till we see Allah plainly." But you were seized with a thunderbolt (lightning) while you were looking. 56. Then We raised you up after your death, so that you might be grateful.

Straight out did not happen in the old testament.

2.6 And [recall] when Moses prayed for water for his people, so We said, "Strike with your staff the stone." And there gushed forth from it twelve springs, and every people knew its watering place. "Eat and drink from the provision of Allah, and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption."

This is not what happened at all. In the old testament moses struck the rock in anger at the people. No one told him to do it. In fact it made God angry. And there is no mention of 12 springs. In the Talmud they added in that 12 springs came out. The original texts do not have it.

2.61 And (remember) when you said, "O Musa (Moses)! We cannot endure one kind of food. So invoke your Lord for us to bring forth for us of what the earth grows, its herbs, its cucumbers, its Fum (wheat or garlic), its lentils and its onions." He said, "Would you exchange that which is better for that which is lower? Go you down to any town and you shall find what you want!" And they were covered with humiliation and misery, and they drew on themselves the Wrath of Allah. That was because they used to disbelieve the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah and killed the Prophets wrongfully. That was because they disobeyed and used to transgress the bounds (in their disobedience to Allah, i.e. commit crimes and sins).

In the old testament no killing of prophets occurred during Moses time.

Been looking for an English version of Sahih al bukhari, translated without the usual abridgements or obscured meanings. Is this what your used (https://www.amazon.com/English-Translation-Sahih-Bukhari-Arabic/dp/1881963594)?

http://www.kalamullah.com/sahih-bukhari.html

The full book can be downloaded in 9 parts.I also recommend the abridged. Many people give more preference to the abridged because it has been scrutinized more. Even though this was translated by the same guy who did the noble qu ran (main one) I still try to avoid using it in main arguments. In fact, I try to ignore all had its these days after a few encounters with some who deny them completely. The guy I wrote this for believes in them.
