6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. - 1 John 5:6-7 (KJV)
This is telling us that Jesus was born as all humans in a natural way (water), but that His Father (blood) was God and not man. Jesus was born Lord at birth (Luke 2:11), but waited 30 years to start His ministry. When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove, and landed on Him (Matthew 3:16). This is when the priesthood changed from the lineage of Aaron to Melchizedek, as John was of the priesthood. Once the Spirit came upon Jesus, He began His ministry, as the Spirit of God is the Power of God, and you must have the Holy Spirit to be able to do the works that Jesus did, and commanded us to do (John 14:12).
The three that are mentioned, the Father, the Word (Jesus), and Holy Ghost, are referred to as the Trinity by Christians. We have a hard time fully understanding the fact that these three operate separately, yet are one person. Us humans do not fully understand the spirit realm, but we know it is true, as the Word of God says it is so. Jesus made it clear that He was one with the Father (John 14:10-11), and did nothing but what He saw the Father do. It takes faith to please God (Hebrews 11:6), and we, who are born again, have the very faith of Jesus living in us as part of the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). We must use this faith to believe the Words of God written in Scripture, and must have this kind of faith to believe in the Trinity, and to be saved. It is marvelous that God gave us the faith needed to be able to fellowship with Him, and to believe the things that we can’t see with our human eyes. Praise God for all our gifts.
