I've started reading the Bible

When I was 12 my school handed out small Gideon Bibles that had a daily reading schedule, so that over the course of two years, you'd have read the whole NT. I read it twice. Got nothing from it. Fast forward 40 years, and the knocks and scrapes of life, and here I am - thoroughly disillusioned with the world (boo-hoo, woe is me lol).

So I bought a leather bound KJV red letter edition (Jesus's words are printed in red) and I am reading Matthew then will read Mark, Luke and John. With what I have learned through living, the Word is beginning to make sense. My impression is that Jesus is no softy - he rebukes and remonstrates, criticises and condemns, but at last I am starting to see the light of Christ.

It seems to me that by taking my fill of what this world has to offer - and being sickened with it and finally pouring it away - my cup is empty and ready to be filled with the love of the living Christ. At 12 I was not receptive. My mind was occupied with worldly things. At 52 I stand ready to reject this devilish world and surrender. Well, almost. It's not easy but I'm making a start.

Hallelujah!! Praise the Lord God Almighty! Praise the Lamb who was slain! Another soul has been saved from the gates of hell. I rejoice in hearing the testimonies of people being saved by Jesus. You are at the beginning of a new journey in Christ; a new man (2 Corinthians 5:17). I encourage you to stay steadfast in Him through the mountains and the valleys. If you ever have any questions about scripture, I'd be more than happy to share what the Holy Spirit has revealed to me about it. Just one note on Jesus condemning others. Jesus has not condemned anyone, but rather forgives any and all who come to Him with a contrite heart. Condemnation by Jesus is reserved for the Day of Judgement. Many blessings in Jesus Christ, my brother!

Hey thank you. I know that this path is hard. The more I read the Bible, the more the devil attacks me with his temptations and his degeneracy. I'm still one foot here and one foot there and the darkness calls ever harder for me as I seek the light.

The liberty in Christ comes from being able to say no to the world. Seek the Lord in every temptation and trial; for His strength is perfected in our weakness.
