Daily Devotional

April 3

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. - Matt 11:28-30 (KJV)

When you come to Jesus and get born again (John 3:3), you enter into His rest. That means you no longer need to work at keeping all the commandments of the Old Testament Law, but you now can rest in Christ, by believing in Him and putting faith in Him as your Savior (Romans 3:28). Jesus is telling us that we can receive the righteousness we need, to be able to come into the presence of Almighty God, by just coming to Him and believing in Him (Romans 10:9-10) – Praise God.

By committing our lives to Jesus, and making Him our Lord, we can go from doing (under the Law) to loving, as Jesus commands (Matthew 22:37-40). The fact that Jesus is meek and lowly in heart, is so awesome, as He was God in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16), and that is the way that our God is. The kingdom of God is just the opposite of our worldly ideas (Romans 8:5-7), and God will exalt the humble.

Being a Christian, and following Jesus, is not hard at all. When you are born again, and receive the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and follow after the spirit, you enter into a peace and joy that is unlike anything else. Being a Christian is fun, and so very rewarding, and I don’t know why everyone would not want to be one. We all have been given a choice (Deuteronomy 30:19), and we can choose heaven or hell, it is up to each one of us. I think maybe that heaven is the better choice!

3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2 KJV
