Thanks for the reminder Pickled, I was going through their stuff to see if they’d answered it already and got sidetracked. I do respect their work and even where I may disagree with their position I usually at least understand how they got there, but you’re right this seems like an an odd position for scripture believers to hold. I will get on it. Hope you are as healthy and happy as your regular comments suggest :) Blessings in Yah.

What the man who is narrating this video is saying, is that you should shut your mind to Gnostic ideas and shun them. This is cult thinking. Cults shut off debate and rational, critical analysis in order to protect their irrational cultic dogma. Christians should not need to do this, if their beliefs make rational sense.

Here's something many people do not know -- the Gnostics were Christians. That's right, they worshipped Jesus Christ as the Son of God. You would never guess this from the way Gnostic views are attacked by both Catholic priests and Baptist preachers. Why are these Gnostic views attacked so unrelentingly and strenuously? Because they pose a threat to the accepted dogma of mainstream Christian denominations.

Not because Gnostic views are incorrect. But because such views threaten the conceits and superstitions of Christian orthodoxy. I am a Gnostic, and the reason I am a Gnostic is because the Christian doctrine of Gnosticism makes the best sense of any Christian doctrine. I'll mention a few tenets of Gnosticism that are particularly meaningful.

  • The god of the Old Testament is not God, but a lesser being who nonetheless created the world.
  • This lesser being calls itself a "jealous god" because it recognizes that it is not the Crown of Creation.
  • It prohibited man from eating of the Tree of Knowledge to prevent man from leaning about his innate divinity.
  • Man was liberated from ignorance by the Serpent, who was sent to man by by the Christ.
  • When man learned of his innate divinity, the jealous god turned against him in fury because he could no longer control him.
  • Man, having a spark of the Supreme Deity within him, is higher than the jealous god of the world.
  • The Jews still worship this jealous god, with whom they made a black pact, and in doing so they worship evil.
  • Most men are asleep, and do not realize their innate divinity.
  • Gnosis is the process of waking up from this sleep and seeing oneself truly.
  • Gnosis means "spiritual knowledge."

Gnostic writings explain so many things that are obscure in Christianity. Why should the acquisition of knowledge ever be forbidden? The mind of man rebels against such a thing. Why would a god supposedly supreme be jealous of anything? It makes no sense. Why is the world filled with cruelty, hardship, savagery, but in the heart of man there is compassion, love, kindness? Because man is not of this world -- the body of man is of the world, but the divine spark of man is from the highest heaven, far above the reach of the jealous god of this world. The goal of Gnostics is to cast off the body like a old cloak, and rise to this supreme heaven.

Christians, do yourselves a great favor, and study up on Gnostic beliefs. Free your minds from ignorance and darkness and superstition. Gnosticism is the Christianity of the future, and it should be, because it is the highest and purest form of Christianity.
