The verses mentioned are discussing, in symbolic language, those who outwardly talk the talk of living a moral God fearing life. But inwardly they are spiritually dead and bring forth no good fruits. It is a warning that God not only knows this, but will not hold them guiltless for such fraud. It was directly spoken as a warning to the jews, but also to all mankind.
