18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. - Romans 5:18-19 (KJV)

This verse is saying that when Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:6), and his spirit died (Genesis 2:17), he brought condemnation upon all creation, including mankind. This judgement caused man forever to have a sin nature, which we were all born with. We therefore are sinners at birth, as we carry the judgement that came upon Adam, and have that sin nature within us, before we ever sin. We are sinners because of this sin nature, not because we sin. Even though we are born sinners, sin is not imputed unto us, until we reach the age of accountability, so children who die will go to heaven, as they are not under the law yet (Romans 5:13).

Just as we became sinners when one man sinned (Adam), we also have now become righteous by one Man (Jesus), if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior (Romans 3:22). This righteousness is not something we have earned, but is entirely a gift from God (Ephesians 2:5). All born again believers in Christ, have been given the righteousness of Christ, by being made a part of His body, the church. If you accept the fact that we are (or were) sinners because of Adam’s original disobedience (sin), than you must accept the fact that we, who are born again, are now made righteous because of Jesus obedience. Praise God that we can now be made righteous by the obedience of Jesus and His sacrifice for us, just by believing in Him! What an awesome gift God has given us, His children!

There's another verse that alludes to the obedience of one making others righteous. 1 Corinthians 7:14

>For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

So the believing spouse can sanctify the unbelieving spouse.
