I do know what you are implying; however, I am not being disingenuous. Anyone can state what God 'wants', but it obviously doesn't provide any validity. The bible, and the bible alone, has the authoritative right to accurately state what God approves and disapproves of. "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." [Isaiah 8:20]
Merely proving a point that statements made by 'persons' who do not speak according to the Scriptures, but state what it is that God approves of, should be tested against the Scriptures; and if what they are saying is found to be wanting, then the statement is to be ruled as false.
Finally a reply worth responding to.
I understand what you're saying. If something doesn't contradict other positions provided by scripture than it can be accepted as consistent and therefore more or less valid. However anything posited by someone as being "true" or coherent outside of what's said in the original text is still made up.
'Made up', yes, but if it coincides with Scripture, it cannot be made false.
'Made up' example statements:
"God wanted his whole creation to be vegetarian." Although the bible does not explicitly state this, it is backed by the Scriptures; therefore making it a true statement. Flesh was only added to God's original diet design due to the curses that befell the earth due to man's transgressions.
"Mankind evolved from monkeys." Made up statement that contradicts Scripture, and therefore is false.
The bible is our filter for discerning all spirits, prophets, and truth.
That's absurd. Plenty of clearly ridiculous things can be conjured that are not in any gross conflict with something else. I'll think up an example when I'm not as busy. Anyways, most religions already violate biblical consistency, probably even your own views if I knew them enough. But to my point, why should anyone respect something people are saying is from God when it's admittedly filled gaps made up by man with an inflated ego.
