37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. 38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. - Mark 15:37-38 (KJV)

This is, of course, when Jesus died on the cross for us. This concluded His ministry on earth as a man (John 19:30), and it fulfilled all the Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah coming and redeeming God’s people (Isaiah 9:6). How anyone can disbelieve the bible, when it is obvious that hundreds of things occurred just as they were prophesied hundreds of years before they happened, I don’t understand. Name another book in this world that had that number of predicted things come to pass, just as it predicted. This, in itself, should make one believe that the bible had to be spoken by God (Acts 3:21), as otherwise it could not have happened that way. The fulfillment of prophecy should make the bible completely believable, even to a heathen.

This veil, in the temple, was what separated the place that God dwelt from the rest of the temple, and the fact that it was torn in half when Jesus died, was to show that the way into God was now open to His people, and not just the priests (Hebrews 10:19-20). As born again believers, we can now approach God directly, without having to go through a priest or being holy ourselves (Revelation 1:6). Jesus did it all, and since we have been given Jesus righteousness, we now appear righteous to God when we come boldly before Him. This veil, that was ripped, was between 60 and 90 feet tall, and was interwoven with threads of gold, making it impossible to rip under normal conditions. It had to be the work of God to rip it in half, especially from the top to the bottom. How awesome is our God? Thank you Jesus for coming and bringing us back into fellowship with the Father (John 17:3)!
