Daily Devotional

February 1

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. 25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. - Col 3:23-25 (KJV)

We should work at everything in this life, as if we are doing it directly for the Lord. We should do it “heartily”, no matter what our job or boss is like, and that means doing our work as good as we possibly can. If you were working directly for the Lord, you would want to do it with all your heart, and as well as you possibly can. This is such a wise thing to do, even in this world system, as it will get you ahead in your job, and enable the Lord to pour His blessings onto you (Proverbs 10:22).

We, who are born again, already are heirs with Christ to all that God has (Romans 8:17) – praise God – so we should serve Him in all we do, in our jobs, homes, family, and everything in this life. If we have truly died to ourselves, and letting Christ live through us, then we will live our lives by doing what pleases Him – fulfilling this scripture.

This verse is saying that we will reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7), and this principal is evident throughout the scriptures. The great thing about being born again, and serving our Jesus, is that we will get what Jesus deserves, and not what we deserve. Those that turn down salvation will reap what they sow, and pay for all their transgressions, without respect to who they are, as God will judge them by the law. Praise God for Jesus and our wonderful salvation!
