I understand the call for the King James version because it's errors are known, but the language is a tough one for a lot of people. Words now often mean something different when the authorized version was written.

I had a couple come to my door once who sort of shared the gospel, in a offbeat way. After a short conversation I asked if they were King James only fans. They affirmed they only used the King James version for their bible reading; it was the only true version of the bible. I then asked what Jesus meant in Matthew 19:14 when he said to "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The woman said something along the lines that she guessed Jesus wanted the children to suffer. I pointed out that suffer meant allow and maybe they should get a bible they could understand.

I switched years ago, and the language was the reason it took me so long to do so. Once you understand some basic rules, and define a few outdated words for things, it's worth way more than the time it takes to do that. I won't even bother with any other version anymore. KJV is it.

Those people just need a vocabulary. Its not as if suffer used in that manner is exclusive to the bible of any version. Their solution isn't necessarily a different bible but some education in English.

Exactly.

This is why the current batch of "college students" are against "women's suffrage".

Amen, brother. It's English, people. You're not niggers -- learn your own language.
