16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? (Galatians 4:16 KJV)

Paul had been brutally honest with the Galatians in this letter, and was wondering if they would repent, or be offended at him. We should always tell the truth in every situation, but should try our best not to be offensive in doing so. If you don’t tell the truth about a matter, then you are condoning the issue, and thereby giving your approval to the situation. You need to be as diplomatic as you can, but never whitewash over a situation, as two wrongs never make it right. There will be many times when we are tempted to not tell the truth, as we know that it might be offensive to those we are dealing with, but don’t keep from telling the truth. If you aren’t truthful with people, then you are rejecting the truth for them, and not giving them a chance to repent. If you know the truth, and don’t say it, then you have become part of the problem, and not the solution. Tell the truth in love, and don’t let peoples reaction make you part of the problem.

Many times when we witness to the unsaved, they will take offense at us, and think we are looking down on them, and just saying we are better than they are. This is why it is so important to witness and share the Gospel in a way that will not offend the people, as if they get offended, you will not get them saved. If we truly state the Gospel (Good News) as it is, and do not try to be condemning in our approach to people, then the Holy Spirit can work on them. We should let the Holy Spirit convict them of their need for salvation, and it is not for us to try to bring condemnation on them (Romans 8:1). We make a very poor Holy Spirit, so just state the Gospel, and let the Spirit do the conviction. We Christians have been given the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18), which is the Gospel, and if we don’t share it with others, then how can they be reconciled to God (John 17:3)? Be a faithful witness, and share the Gospel every chance you get. Praise God for His giving us the Gospel!
