Catholicism is out for sure. A spiritual approach is my immediate solution for now.

Consider the Quakers. No harm in hanging out with them. As a young man living in London, I attended a meeting/service. They enjoyed having a 'yank' visit. No pressure, no preaching at all. Good folks.

I'm interested if you have any good stories of your visits. What was spiritualism for them? How do they lack organized religion to find this spirituality? Just curious anyway.

I lived in London from 1977 to 1980. Visited all sorts of religious organizations just from curiosity. Joined none, but visited... British-Israelist church, Quakers, Hindus, Baha'is, Buddhists, Sikhs, Muslims at a very creepy Pakistani Mosque, and the Quakers were very quiet and non-pushy.

The rest of the time, I was attending punk rock concerts! For a kid raised in the swamps of Louisiana, London was awesome. Seen it all. My favorite band was the cheesiest of them all, with the lead singer stabbing himself to death - ever concert (mock). This EP is golden to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M474_WCxd3I

The eastern religions(minus islam) make the most sense, if youre actually trying for a spiritual approach.

Look up Gnostic Christianity. It's most likely what you want given your description.

Heh I'm not trying to start anything, I swear....
Besides, Gnosticism was originally Christianity, so it's a somewhat redundant label.

No need for such things here (at least with me). Refinement is how we sharpen our words. We need each other for such things. This is one of the selfish reasons I place responses on here.

There are a few brands of Gnosticism out there that I've seen ... at least in style. I think some of the freemasonry Gnosticism refers more to an evolution/transhumanist/luciferian style. I was referring to what the gospels were talking about, with Jesus being a parable for truth and awareness (for lack of a better term) is the Gnostic state to find and reside in.

That's reasonable, but Joshua was no parable. He was a man. He died in old age. He had a daughter.

Is Yahweh a necessary part of your spiritual beliefs?

No. I think more I am looking for community and people who live decently

I saw this church group eating lunch. There were some nice single women in dresses. I guess you could find some good lessons in the bible, without necessarily believing in Yahweh.

This is a serious (and abstract) question. Do you have an idea of what God is? I mean, do you have a pre-defined idea of what makes sense for you? To some, God is an idea. Others, it's a man in the sky that created everything.

I have a mishmash of organized religion and other concepts in my mind about it, and it is an IT. I struggle to even believe it is there but there are undeniable moments of my life that put that doubt into uncertainty.

Exoteric god - the "man in the sky that created everything".

Esoteric god - consciousness in it's creative aspect.

Yahweh/YHWH is literally just Saturn or El or Anu.

It was the hebrew god from the Sumerian pantheon of gods

Go for non denominational. Those are mostly people who want to practice their faith and not follow a bunch of man made rules like the larger organized religions.

Does your family have a history of individuals with mental or learning development disorders?

None that I am aware of. It's a big family spread over a large swath of American
