This is a very apt statement. Thank you for posting.
There's nothing wrong with joy (happiness). Obviously within reason to as well.
Romans 14:17 - 17For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,
Galatians 5:22-23 - “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
Mark 10:18 - "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone.
1 Peter 1:15-17 - 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”[a] 17 Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.
Plus other Holy Bible quotes to as well.
Yes you are right, it's only a problem when we idolize happiness or use happiness as an excuse to do something we shouldn't or to not do something we should.
This is more a reminder that happiness isn't the end all n be all.
