Daily Devotional

January 6

2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. (Matthew 8:2-3 KJV)

Many Christians have been taught that they can be healed “if it’s Gods will”, but Jesus was the express image of His Father, and He always healed those that asked Him, so this shows that it is the will of God to heal all who believe in Him. It is wrong to throw out a prayer and ask for healing, if it’s your will, as it is His will at all times to heal us, as that was part of the atonement of Jesus, as “by His stripes we were healed” (1 Peter 2:24).

All through the life of Jesus ministry here on earth, He always healed everyone who would accept it. There were times He could not do the miracles that He wanted to because of the people’s unbelief (Matthew 13:58), but never because He didn’t want to heal them. At no time did Jesus ever put sickness or disease onto anyone, but always healed them that had some faith in Him. It not only takes faith in the one praying for the healing, but it also takes some faith in the one that is receiving. Any unbelief can cancel the faith present to heal, and stop the miracles from coming to pass. Healing is ours, if we have the faith to see it happen. We have the faith of Jesus in our born again spirits (Galatians 5:22-23), let’s use it and move a few mountains – praise God.

I appreciate the devotion for today. Thank you and praise God for His word.

However, the fall has guaranteed that we will all die. And your exegesis presumes that our disbelief is actually more powerful than God's will. Scripture shows time and time again that God is sovereign over all of His creation. While we may not understand why specific things happen to us, we can find peace in knowing that all things will work to the glory of God for those who love Him. (Romans 8, Book of Job)

You quote Galatians-

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Longsuffering. Yet this is accompanied by peace, love and goodness. The flesh will turn back to dust regardless of how faithful we are, but our faith can let us know we have been guaranteed eternal life because Christ died and rose again.

The link you provided states that pastor has currently closed his church due to health issues. I wonder if this has given him a new perspective.
