14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. - James 5:14-15 (KJV)

The modern day pastor, or elder, would not do this for the sick, but instead would suggest that the person go see a doctor. They had doctors back in the days of the Apostles and the early church, but the church took care of their own when sickness came upon them. The church should still be taking care of the sick, and Jesus would be ashamed that they turn away His people, and do not take care of their needs. The oil used to anoint the sick, before praying for them, is representative of the Holy Spirit, and is symbolic only, and does not have any medicinal benefit. If we obey the commands of Jesus (John 14:12), we would do the works that He did, and heal the sick in the churches. If pastors would just get the power of the Holy Spirit in them, the church would be of much greater value to its members.

Prayer, in itself, does not heal the sick, but it has to be a prayer of faith, for without faith you can’t please God (Hebrews 11:6). Faith is what gives power to prayer, and must be present for your prayers to work. The word “SOZO” that is translated in this verse as “save” is the same word used many times in the bible for salvation, showing that healing is part of what Jesus did for us, and is part of the Atonement of Christ (Matthew 8:17). Those that teach that healing, and other miracles, passed away with the Apostles are not telling the truth, as they are just as valid today as they ever were. The prayers of faith, of those who are born again and have the power of the Holy Ghost, will be just as effective today as they ever were. Thank you Lord for giving us the power of the Holy Ghost to heal the sick, cast out demons, and even raise the dead.

Amen to that!

"Prayer, in itself, does not heal the sick, but it has to be a prayer of faith, for without faith you can’t please God (Hebrews 11:6). Faith is what gives power to prayer, and must be present for your prayers to work. "

Prayers don't work or have any power whatsoever (don't accept this garbage that comes from New Age liars of Satan who claim there is power in prayer).

Prayers are simply pleas for help and mercy from God and a form of worship. God alone has the power to answer prayers should he choose, including healing the sick completely no matter the illness and its complications.

Anything you receive after prayer comes from God, not prayer (do not let Satan confuse you into subtly abandoning God by thinking there is directly power in prayer and then relying on your own selfish works instead of those done for the love of God). But, obviously if you have no faith in God, prayers are not answered because you wouldn't be praying to God to begin with. So, there is no surprise there!

Never cease praying for healing. I avoid modern doctors and have experienced miraculous healing directly from God; it was like God erased my body-pervading illness as if it never existed! No modern science can ever explain it because it does not fall under the jurisdiction of science to begin with (which is only studying the creation of God). Instead, it is under the direct will of God, which does not conform to any science whatsoever since God decides everything in the universe (and science may only learn very tiny minute glimpses of God's design of the world, which God can change in the future anyways should he choose).

Godspeed.
