I will open this by saying I believe the Sabbath is Saturday and not Sunday. The Catholic church changed it to Sunday sometime back in early hundreds AD but this was an action of the papacy and not an act of God. The papacy moved the day to Sunday which is also the day the Romans worshipped their sun god.

Why does it matter? God is pretty specific about the Sabbath being on the 7th day of the week and not the 1st. Go ask the Jews why they treat Saturday as the Sabbath and remember Christianity descends from Judaism. Messianic Jews are simply Christians who still keep the Old Testament. The Sabbath didn't change between the New and Old Testaments though Christ did clarify some of the excessive legalism of the Pharisees.

As for my question, how does one keep the Sabbath?

What is allowed and what is required?

Clearly worship is encouraged. Clearly, some work can be done (acts of mercy, healing, doing good for others, ministering to others, some food preparation, etc.). Still, what are the limits?

Clearly the Sabbath isn't for me to do my normal 9-5 job but can I do work around the home? Household chores, yardwork?

What about keeping the Sabbath and going to Church on Sunday? There aren't any 7th Day churches in my area.

Of all of God's commandments, this is the hardest one to keep due to its practical challenges. I need advice.

Thank you,

Thank you for this. I will do some reading on those sections of the Bible you cited. They certainly give cause for thought.
