I lived in New Zealand for 10 years in the 80s, it is (was) heavily influenced by England. What creeped me out was whenever someone wanted to have a 'fancy dress' (costume party here in the US) most of the guys would get all giddy and say "let's all dress up in drag!". Uh, no thanks.
