Saw her poking around my shed a bit, figured she was looking for somewhere convenient to lay an egg. The dog eventually found her in my table saw.

You provided prime nesting material, what else could she do?

[–] 2 pts 3y

I give them plane shavings in their proper nest boxes. Some of the chickens still lay there, just this one has moved to my shed.

They've been living free range for a while, apparently the foxes around here aren't very hungry.

Does it poo in the shed for your cleanlihood reliance?

Not much really. It's not far from the saw to outside, so she mostly just comes in to lay.

Dog has a concerned look. um me thinks this maybe not the best place to lay them.

I honestly can't fault her instincts. While the location isn't ideal due to the hardware, the cabinet is dark, saw dust is excellent nest insulation, and it'll be fairly easy for you to clean up her droppings when you're ready to move her back into the coop.

Lol, did the Border Collie find the stow away?

[–] 2 pts 3y

Yeah, they're friends. The dog gives cuddles to the chicken and they sleep together on the back verandah.

She may be sick of you stealing eggs... gonna teach ya a lesson!

I like to tease and confuse chickens with dubious tactics.
