You know, I've been known to call myself a Christian from time to time, and thats a long complicated story. The reason I say this is my understanding of the Bible's teachings are that the wages of sin is death, no sin in particular specified just sin. Well it is also my understanding that the way to life is through belief in Christ. So why so much focus from the catholic church on this particular sin? If there is a part that teaches any one sin is greater than another I missed it.

Very true! All sin is equal in the eyes of God. Priests don't teach murder or rape or lying is okay -- so for a priest like James Martin to preach being gay is okay is like preaching that murder is okay.
It was definitely a bit of a struggle to get over when I first converted haha
My point is the only reason pro lgbt priest exist is because the church in general has exiled and focused on their sin in particular while ignoring their own.
