There are more false idols than we know. Hell the fucking pastor/preacher/preist is one. Their whole churchanity system is setup that way.

Protestants have no form of worship so they substitute in singing and praying. The singing of any song other than for God therefore is forbidden as worship and idolatry of whatever the topic of the song is, and asking any other person to pray for them is forbidden because there is only their relationship with God, no communion with other believers.
All of which can be argued from scripture itself. A lot of catholics need to reread their bible and not just go by the doctrine dictated by men. matthew 12: 46-50 is pretty clear about where Mary sits in terms of overall hierarchy.
But you do you man. You're still saved as long as your faith in Jesus is genuine. Just realize that catholics are basically on par with mormons in terms of dogma and unnecessary worship practices.
If you read the post link to the Vatican article, you'd see what they said about Mary. Catholics are the original Christians, there was a Church before there was a Christian Bible and that Church without a Bible had the fullness of truth, the one deposit of faith. You accept the Bible that the Church produced, and the chapters and verses that they placed on the letters and books.
