No Catholic "worships" Mary. We are asking her, as a person, to pray for us to God. Have you never asked someone to pray for you? How is it wrong to ask someone for prayers?

Because that's idol worship. Jesus and his apostles show in NUMEROUS places in the New Testament how and to whom to pray. At no point to they pray to ANY authority or person other than our Lord and Jesus.

How is asking someone to pray for me akin to idol worship? If I ask you to pray for me, would that be me worshipping you as an idol? also, Mary is not an idol, she is a person.
