I could go into detail about this, but suffice to say that if you read these passages in context, you'd be hard pressed to come to the conclusion of Mary veneration.

And if Catholics read the 10 commandments in full (Exodus 20:1 - 20:17) instead of the Catechism, Catholics would stop making idols and worshiping them.

No Catholic "worships" Mary. We are asking her, as a person, to pray for us to God. Have you never asked someone to pray for you? How is it wrong to ask someone for prayers?

Because that's idol worship. Jesus and his apostles show in NUMEROUS places in the New Testament how and to whom to pray. At no point to they pray to ANY authority or person other than our Lord and Jesus.

So an angel from heaven, coming to Mary, calling here Blessed among all women, is not reason enough for us to call Mary a holy person?

The angels were referring to her position as the future mother of the Son of Man. She was favored and blessed to carry and birth Jesus. In no way does this indicate that she is to be venerated, much less prayed to. In fact, if we want to speak to how important her role is, we can go directly to Jesus.

Mark 3:31-35 31 Then Jesus' mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, "Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you." 33"Who are my mother and my brothers?" he asked. 34 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother."

Matthew 12:46-50 46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47S omeone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you." 48 He replied to him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

Neither of those references downplay Mary's importance. You would have Jesus breaking the 4th commandment of Honor your Father and Mother if that were the case.
