You can do what you want regarding praying to Mary, but the Bible does not say anywhere that praying to Mary is essential to a Christian life.
Personally, I think praying to anyone other than God is a sin. But you can pray to anyone or anything you want, and I wont stop you.
Good thing you're not the divine authority, the Church is. Matthew 16:18-19. 1 Tim 3:15.
We're warned in the Holy Scriptures not to add to or take away from the teachings. Seems to me the rosary, from the 1500s, is adding to the teachings.
But again, if you choose to pray to Mary, I won't stop you.
Praying the Rosary IS praying the gospel. I would suggest you look into it a bit more. The Hail Mary prayer and the Our Father prayer are taken directly from the gospel, and each of the 20 mysteries are taken directly from the gospel. Is quoting the bible now not Christian? Most protestants claim Sola Scriptura, but when we Catholics actually use the bible in our prayers, you claim heresy! Seems a little duplicitous.
