Please, elaborate.
Well it seems the base of his argument is that a gay man cannot be a priest or pastor due to the mental health issues caused by it, I would argue that sin in and of it self causes mental health issues and as far as I am aware the bible says the cost of sin is death, it doesn't specify anyone one sin being greater than another as far as I am aware(my knowledge of the bible isn't perfect so I could be wrong). On top of that I have never met a single person with no mental health issues. So I'd say the argument kind of falls flat. I'm not saying there is not an argument saying that gay men cannot be in the clergy, I just haven't heard one that doesn't hinge on homosexuality somehow being a greater sin and other sins, I'm sure one could exist I just don't know what it is. So my point is I think the argument he is making hinges on saying homosexuality is a greater sin and has a greater effect on human beings than other sins, which certainly I can see anecdotal evidence to support this but biblically as far as I am aware it is not a greater sin than any other. Meaning his argument for me doesn't hold water.
Apologies for the wall of text.
Not quite. The Basis for his argument is from the Catechism. Here's a reference point from the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church regarding homosexuality, same-sex attraction.
