Hmmm.... Thanks, so I was wrong. Earlier I see some photos and I think that one dude are author. Hugh.... this comic have weird sense of humor, beyond simple gender boundaries . I love extreme stuff, but sometime this are too extreme even for me. Some episode are brilliant other are disgusting. really mixed bag. However I follow this comic because he are unique in many ways.

I don't even get the joke, honestly.

Did she literally just replace atoms with birds and took that stupid doomed narrative that the collider would cause an apocalypse? Why do birds make it funny?

well she made a direct comparison to a common "nerd" topical joke of destroying the universe with the hadron collider. Included a weakly contrived comparison to birds and bats for some reason, the characters doing the experiment are women to promote women in stem. and just incase anyone still thought it was funny there is an unecessary last panel where god shows up to explain the joke

The bat and the bird make it silly. There are people who are genuinely afraid of something like this happening when smashing atoms. These are the same sort of people who believed the humorous remark by the Manhattan Project scientists when they said setting off the first test-nuke might set fire to all the nitrogen in the atmosphere.
