The used car market is going to blow up even more than before once this crap enters the market.

Stick to your old cars. They don't have all this spyware. There's no stupid economy features that just wear down parts faster (see auto stop/start).

Hopefully my 2GR-FE continues to purr for a long time (it should). It doesn't have direct injection, no auto stop/start, no mild hybrid system, just a nice and simple V6 that should be bulletproof. The eco mode on this car just adjusts how early it shifts, how it responds to throttle, and how much power the A/C gets to use. Nothing else. They pushed all these new powertrains and efficiency functions to make repair costs worse in hopes that we can be pushed to purchase these retarded vehicles with "features" no one asked for.

They just don't make them like they used to.

All my dream cars are old. A 1980 Plymouth Volare sedan with bench seats up front, a 318 with 360 heads, dual turbos - one per hemisphere, a Holley EFI drop-in (prolly a sniper), 5-speed transmission w/ an on-tree slapshift kit, hard white vinyl roof, forest green with chrome trim, chrome smoothie rims w/ domecaps.

Or a 1980 Ford Pinto w/ a 1988 Thunderbird engine, done up like a Fox-body Mustang.

The reliability of all new cars of all brands is going down, but also there is a mechanic shortage at dealerships, so when it does stop working, it will be very hard to fix without enterprise-level tools, or even to find someone to do it.
