Ford is such a fucking waste sometimes. They can make a car that runs relatively trouble-free for 20 years, or they can make a piece of shit. No in-between.
I do make jokes but there are some impressive things about ford. They never needed a bank bailout unlike other US car manufacturers just a bit years back.
I will give them that. I also have to give them props, my '07 Focus, besides what I consider consumables from age, has started for me reliably every morning for 18 years.
Best car I've owned was the 1988 Ford Ranger XLT I bought right out of college. I put 270,000 miles on it over 16 years, and other than consumables (brakes, clutch, tires, etc), the only issues I had with it were the weak head bolts they replaced gratis at year 3. Inline 4 cylinder with throttle body fuel injection and a 5 speed manual transmission. Would do 80 mph reliably and frequently - didn't ride too badly either.
Damn I miss that truck...
