The single biggest reason MB bought Chrysler is because Iacocca touted a new computer design system for cars. The result was the C230 Kompressor - a car what looked more like a shoe and which had some REAL problems. First was that the computer design software didn’t know how to make room for a wiring harness. All the main wiring harnesses were pinched too tightly resulting in most of the cars needing replacements. This required almost a complete disassembly of the interior of the cars. I watched the process first hand in many cases. Very ugly.

But what ultimately killed the car was that the computer fucked yo and the cylinders weren’t perfectly round. I don’t know how this could happen but it did. And it was for sure the result of the design software. There was really no good fix for it so MB quickly discontinued the car and offered trade ins and such.

After that whole debacle MB ditched Chrysler like a hot potato. But by then the cost cutting infection had hit and MB went way way down hill.

We call Chrysler-era C class cars niggermobiles here, they're the only ones that want any of the few still on the road.
