There's a huge market for luddite cars that don't rely on electronics to work. Over-regulation is the structural barrier creating all of these problems. Airbags, efficiency mandates that mysteriously disappear if the vehicle is a "truck", backup cameras, auto-shutoff, one-size-fits-all impact bullshit. That's the problem. Delete it and replace it with reasonable emissions standards (not CO2), and that's it. There would be an automotive renaissance. Cars would probably end up SAFER. Idiots who buy cars from startups had better do their homework.
